Jack was born and raised in Holyoke. He went on to graduate from the College of the Holy Cross and Western New England College of Law, where he was the editor of the law review. Jack received a certificate from Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination as a trainer in the topics discrimination, harassment, and diversity. Jack's areas of legal expertise include business and corporate law, real estate development, estate and elder law,with a concentration in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration.

 

 

Jack is a lecturer on business law at the University of Massachusetts and a lecturer on management law for Lorman Business Services. Jack is very active in the community. He is a former president of the Greater Holyoke Chamber of Commerce, the Holyoke Rotary Club, the Saint Patrick's Committee, and the Children's Museum at Holyoke.

Jack's community involvement has been lauded by many. He is the recipient of the George E. O'Connell Award for Distinguished Service, the Louis F. Oldershaw Community Service Award, and the Special Service Award from the Northeast Public Power Association.
 
Jack has been a board member of the Hampden County Bar Association, United Way, YMCA, and Day Nursery. He has volunteered for Providence Hospital, Holyoke Hospital, Mount Saint Vincent, Loomis House Retirement Communities, and the Heritage Park Merry-Go-Round.
 
Jack currently lives in Holyoke with his family.

Maurice J. Ferriter

John Ferriter, known as Jack, a highly honored Holyoke, western Mass. attorney specializing in business, corporate, and real estate law including mediation, arbitration, and negotiation.

Born and raised in Holyoke, Maurice is a graduate of the Holyoke Junior College, University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1957, and Western New England College School of Law. His areas of concentration are estate planning and administration, trusts, corporate law and municipal utility law. During the Korean War Maurice served in the Army. He then returned to Holyoke and established his law firm. Maurice served as city solicitor for the City of Holyoke in the early 1960s.

He has also served as president of the Greater Holyoke Chamber of Commerce, and as director and trustee of numerous business and non-profit corporations, including Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Holyoke Community College. Maurice was the recipient of the William G. Dwight Award, the Louis Oldershaw Community Service Award, the Chamber of Commerce Business Person of the Year Award, the Holyoke Community College Outstanding Alumni Award, the Special Service Award for the Municipal Electric Association of Massachusetts, and the Person of the Year Award for the Northeast Public Power Association.
